Thanksgiving 2010
This holiday weekend is the perfect time to say thank you once more to all of you who have been so generous in your support of my LiveStrong Challenge Ride in Austin, Texas. I was proud to represent my friends and family at such an important event.
LiveStrong Challenge weekend began with an opportunity to tour the headquarters of LiveStrong – The Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF). A remodeled paper warehouse in the industrial section of Austin, the headquarters is most notable for two facts. One, opened last year it was a “sustainable remodel” designed to utilize materials from the old warehouse, natural local materials and be primarily naturally lit. Two, its collaborative design has open workspace for every employee (yes, even the CEO) with a number of glass wall conference areas. This design follows the grassroots engagement, equal voice philosophy of LAF.

On Saturday, in downtown Austin, the LiveStrong Challenge 5k Run began at the break of dawn with 3,000 runners of all ages. Families, friends and survivors in all stages of their cancer journey participated.

On Sunday, in nearby Dripping Springs, 3,100 riders learned that Texas Hill Country really is hilly; braving humid 90 degree temperatures to ride 10, 25, 45, 65 or 90 miles. Again, all ages and stages were represented.

Thanks to YOU and all the others who supported LiveStrong Challenge participants over 3.1 million was raised for the fight against cancer.
I hope for your continued support of LiveStrong and leave you with these final picture thoughts: the first is the wall at LiveStrong Headquarters where LiveStrong’s Core Values are spelled out; the second is a poster I saw on one of the work stations which called directly to my heart.

So from the bottom of my heart and on behalf of cancer survivors, their families and friends everywhere:
THANK YOU AND LIVESTRONG!
